Introducing Writing Streaks
We're excited to launch Writing Streaks, a new way to build a daily writing habit and watch your progress add up over time!
Every day you write and save new words on Inkitt, your streak grows by one. The more consistently you write, the longer your streak, and the more your writing calendar fills up with color.
✅ Track your writing progress at a glance, right from the Write tab
✅ See your daily word count and a heatmap calendar of your writing history
✅ Get gentle reminders so you never accidentally break your chain
✅ Works seamlessly across mobile and web — your streak follows you everywhere
Note: Writing Streaks are private. Only you can see your streak; it's not visible to readers or other authors.
FAQs:
Q: How do I start a writing streak?
A: Just open any draft and write at least one new word that gets saved. That's Day 1! Keep writing each calendar day to grow your streak.
Q: How many words do I need to write to keep my streak going?
A: Any amount! Even a single saved word counts. Writing more in a day won't extend your streak further, but it will darken the color of that day on your heatmap calendar.
Q: When does a "day" end?
A: Days are based on your device's local time, not a rolling 24-hour window. As long as you write something on each calendar day, your streak keeps going.
Q: Does writing on my phone and on the web count toward the same streak?
A: Yes! Your word counts are combined across every device and platform you use. Write 300 words on mobile and 500 on web in the same day, and your daily total is 800.
Q: What happens if I miss a day?
A: Your streak will reset to zero. The next day you write and save new words, a new streak begins at Day 1.
Q: Can I freeze my streak or recover one I lost?
A: No. Streaks reset on missed days. If you believe a streak was lost in error, reach out to our support team and we can help.
Q: Do edits or deletions affect my streak?
A: Only new saved words count toward your daily total. Deleting words won't subtract from the day, and revising existing prose without adding new words may not count toward the streak.
Q: What do the colors on my calendar mean?
A: The heatmap shows how much you wrote each day. Light colors mean a smaller word count, and the color gets darker as your word count grows, all the way up to the darkest shade for 4,000+ words in a day.
Q: Why don't I see the streak module on my Write tab?
A: The streak module appears once you've started your first draft. If you haven't written anything yet, create a draft and the module will show up.
Q: Will I get notifications about my streak?
A: Yes. You'll receive push notifications and emails to help you keep your streak going. These follow your author alerts settings, which you can manage in your account.
Q: What if I travel across timezones?
A: Your streak follows your device's local time, so it adjusts as you move. If you run into an unexpected reset, contact support and we can help sort it out.
Q: Can other people see my writing streak?
A: No. Writing Streaks are completely private. They're for you only and aren't shown to readers, other authors, or anywhere on your profile.
